Yes, the optimization service should only restart if the CMC instructs it to (after a policy push and even then you have to explicitly tick the 'restart service' option when pushing) or an administrator clicks the restart button in the web UI or types 'restart' in the CLI.
Other unexpected service restarts might be the result of a code problem but would always be associated with log messages to that effect. You can check 'User Messages' logs to determine whether an administrator performed the restart.
To have this fully diagnosed, I would recommend opening a support case.

Can anyone give us some information. We have a 250L installed and the system manager is having to regularly restart the optimisation service. There is no clear alarm indication as to why this is happening.
Could someone let me know the instances in which the service would need to be restarted. Is is just after a config change?
Also if we take a system dump off a unit on a live circuit. Will this have any adverse affect on the functionality of the installed device?
Any help greatfully recieved
