Re: Location awareness

The 10ms or other configured value is measured using the SYN/ACK response from the first Steelhead to reply, wherever that may be. If it replies below the threshold, then your client will use the local Steelhead for acceleration.

Location awareness does not work with fixed target rules.

From Steelhead Mobile 3.1.2 onwards, you no longer need to configure firewall rules on your client.

Location awareness

Hi ,

Regarding the latency settings for the location awareness

If i plug my laptop with mobile client installed in a branch office that has a local steelhead and if the leatency is set to default 10ms does it mean if the ping response from my Laptop and the local Steelhead is within 10ms then i will be using the local steelhead instead of the Mobile client ?

In general the value that i specify for latency does this the latency between the Laptop instaaled wiht mobile client and the Local SH.

2. I have the configured a fixed target rule in the acceleration policy for my endpoints to point to the server side SH.  But all my branch office Physical SH are IN-PATH with the Server side SH.

As i am using FTR between my Mobile client and Server side SH will location awareness, branch warming work?

3.The firewall port on the client 7800,7801 does it need to be allowed inbound or outbound on windows firewall and do i need to allow anyother ports other than this on the laptop where i have installed the mobile cient.

Thanks for your help.
