Re: Will QoS marking add a DSCP if the packet doesn't have one?

The Steelhead can either mark traffic (whether passthrough or optimized) or can simply "reflect" the DSCP for traffic that has already been marked elsewhere in the network.

Yes, you can add new DSCP markings to packets that don't already have a marking.

Will QoS marking add a DSCP if the packet doesn't have one?

I have a client who setup there QoS useing just QoS marking in the SH.  There about 48 enteries in there. Will this though process work?  Will the SH add a DSCP to a packet that doesn't have one?

From what I read, it seems like QoS markings should just be used with DSCP values are already assigned to the packet.

Thoughts?

Thanks advanced!
