Hi Alan,

I suggest that you disable fallback mode so that the Outlook 2007 semantics are preserved between the Steelheads and more importantly for you, you get your "rooms" functionality back.

Steelhead appliances will continue to optimize by performing data reduction and TCP-level optimization. What will be missing is the ability to accelerate at layer-7. For chatty Exchange operations such as sending an email, which is impacted by high latency, the MAPI 2K7-based round trips over the WAN will still have to be performed even though the data has been seen before.

I also want to remind you that in order to get data reduction you need to make sure you disable encryption on the Outlook 2007 client.

I disabled all MAPI options and the "Rooms" button appeared. What are our options ? Should I disable Oulook 2003 fallback mode ? If so what are the implications on acceleration ?

Alan,

It sounds like you're using the Outlook2K3 fallback mode on the Steelhead and the feature that you're seeing is only available when using the new MAPI protocol. In any case, go ahead with your test just to confirm.

Has anyone had an issue with the above. All local users when they start the meeting request wizard they have the option to pick a "room" by using the "rooms" button. However all users who are coming from a remote site and via the steelheads (latest software) do not have the "room" button.

I am going to disable all optimisation this weekend to see if that fixes it but wondered if anyone else had come across this ?
