Hi Balmquist,
7830 and 7840 are the default port numbers used by the Steelhead. Exchange uses ephemeral port numbers, so the Steelhead maps these connections to these port numbers so that we can track them. You can change these port numbers if you want, but it won't affect whether or not the MAPI connections are being optimized.
To verify that MAPI is being optimized, go to reports-->networking-->current connections. If MAPI is being optimized, then you will see "MAPI" under the "Application" column on the right, and three yellow triangles for each MAPI connection on the left under "Type". If you see MAPI connections that are not being optimized, then call Riverbed support. There are many possible reasons for why MAPI is not being optimized.

Hey Experts,
I've inherited the management of a 14 Steelhead WAN. It looks like the MAPI configuration isn't set-up correctly and I'm a bit confused on the correct settings. Currently in Configuration>Networking>Port Labels, MAPI is set to ports 7830 and 7840. In Configuration>Optimization>MAPI, the Exchange port is set to 7830 and the NSPI port is set to 7840. I'm not seeing any MAPI connections which would seem to indicate something's awry. What are the correct port settings for an Exchange 2007 environment.
thanks,
-Bryan
