Re: Lotus Notes Configuration for Databases

Hi Sharding,

Are you using RiOS 5.5 or later?  If so, then you should be getting better performance for Lotus Notes.  To verify, go to reports-->networking-->current connections and verify that your Lotus Notes connections are among the optimized connections.  If you see Lotus Notes sessions being passed-through (0% reduction), then call Riverbed support to start the troubleshooting process.

Lotus Notes Configuration for Databases

Hi guys, im a newbie and thx for the opportunity to post.

We have a number of riverbed devices in our company.

We are also a Lotus notes shop.

Our basic setup of the riverbeds currently is to just turn on Lotus notes optimization and that's it. At sites where a riverbed existed, there is no local Notes Mail server...all users are using local replicas of Notes Mail, and pulling down Notes databases over the WAN.

Feedback from the users is that there has not been a huge improvement in performance especially for Notes databases.

Question 1:

That being the case, for these riverbeds, is there any other settings we can configure on these riverbed devices to improve Lotus Notes database access without configuring local replicas of these?

Question 2:

Guys, we have just purchased a Riverbed SH 550-M with RSP. How can we configure/what is best practice for Lotus Notes optimization in terms of Lotus Notes databases access without configuring local replicas on the clients of notes databases?

What we want to do is basically use this at a site and turn off their local Lotus Notes Server, and get users to use local notes replicas. They will not have local replicas of notes databases.

Any help greatly appreciated.
