Re: Kansas City Riverbed User Group Summary

Sean,

Thanks for having a second RUG meeting at your offices.  Also congratulations on the promotion!

I wanted to ask if you found it valuable to invite our Professional Services consultant to speak.  Do you think we should have more of experts out to RUGs to present or should we have more customers presenting?

Thanks,

Irene

Kansas City Riverbed User Group Summary

The Kansas City Riverbed User Group met for its first lunch meeting on Wednesday, October 12th at the offices of Lathrop & Gage LLP in Kansas City, Missouri. The meeting was a great success!

Agenda:

 - Welcome! Sean Power, CIO at Lathrop & Gage LLP, as KC group president

- Special Guest: Robert Schumann, Consulting Solutions Architect, Riverbed

- Robert spotlighted how global Riverbed customers are optimizing and utilizing Steelhead features in their environment.

- Following Robert's presentation we opened up the floor for discussions around:

- VDI

- Citrix

- Exchange 2010

- QoS

- New 7.0 features

We had 17 IT peers ranging from Network Engineers to IT management at this event.  Many users came away not knowing there were so many features they could run on their Steelhead appliances.  There might be enough consensus to also have a KC Riverbed training day.

We plan to host 2-3 meetings per year, where peers can network and bounce ideas with each other. The KC RUG will be a place for us to voice our opinions and share what practices have worked.  I look forward to our next event in early 2012.

Please do contact me if you have suggestions or ideas before the event.  Let's keep the conversations going through this community site.

Sincerely,

Sean
