Oh No..... Disaster Recovery.

We currently deploy around 600 steelhead units in our organization to assist in optimizing bandwidth and application performance.   Of course this all worked great until our systems team came over with two nasty words from a network standpoint "Disaster Recovery".

They were very nonchalant about the requirement to move over 50 terabytes daily to a site located many states away (with no "low cost" connectivity solution).   Most of us network guys were ready to revolt until we thought "well, if we can optimize applications of the WAN....why not SAN to SAN optimization?"

So we placed a 5050M in our main DC and a 1050L in the DRP site to hopefully compress the data over the DR circuits.   This was the result (1 hour sample):

Overall optimization:

Pretty shocking.....   and by the way, the ROI was about 2 days.
