Hi Geert
correct, failover will not be stateful, all sessions will need to be re-initiated, but after that will be optimized fine.

Hi all,
I am designing a new steelhead configuration for the first time. We have two remote WAN links (one active , one standby). I plan to install the stealhead in-path with the active router. Both routers have a L3 connection to the LAN network. This means they don't use HSRP and have a different subnet on their LAN interface. With this configuration, when the primary line fails, there will be a failover to backup, however, users will notice this as their "optimized" sessions will be disrupted and in backup their will be no optimization.
If i avoid this, by also connecting the backup router to the second ip-path interface, will this prevent session resetting when switching to the backup link ? If i understand the stealhead correctly, then i am afraid not (?). As the second in-path interface will have a different IP address, won't the optimized sessions still need to be re-initialized ??
regards,
Geert
