Re: Basic QoS - What Service Policy/Queue does unspecified Applications fall into?

Hi tiagoJC,

When a packet does not match to a defined Application in Basic QoS, it will be classified as Low-Priority.

If you want it to queued into a different class then create a new Application via the Add Application button.  Type in a Application Name, such as Default and change the Service Class to your desired queue, such as Normal.  Everything else can be left with default values.  Click the Add button to apply these new settings.  This change will apply to new connections.

Basic QoS - What Service Policy/Queue does unspecified Applications fall into?

Hi,

I've been reading the deployment guide and can't seem to find the answer. What Service Policy/Queue does unspecified Applications fall into?

I'm assuming its Normal? I've read with Andvanced QoS there's a Default Service Policy its falls into, but with Basic QoS I am using the Default Class and reconfiguring it as needed for all traffic.

I've got a Server SH at the Colo and 40 Client SH with the same Basic QoS configured. I'm having major issues with Symantec End Point (SEP) 12.1 which the end users says is encrypted and can't be turned off, hence no optimisation and is saturating the the remote WAN link. I've placed RDP in the Realtime queue and given it 80% with SEP in the Best Effort queue with 0% GBW. This doesn't seem to protect RDP and the link just gets saturated and RDP becomes almost unusable.

I've attached my QoS config as screen shoots if anyone wants to have a look. I've got all my SH on RiOS 6.5.3
