Re: Riverbed Marketing dept. sucks? 50 series rollout

The xx50 series systems are the next generation of Steelheads, offering more flexibility and supportability in the platform. They do not replace or supercede the existing models any more than the xx20 series superceded the xx10 series. We'll be running the ranges in parallel and continuing to sell and support the xx20, but obviously over time the xx20 (just like the xx10 and eventually the xx50) will become obsolete.

Due to the new hardware platform there are a few minor changes in how the underlying systems work but otherwise you will be able to use them as drop-in replacements for any new installs or upgrades.

Re: Riverbed Marketing dept. sucks? 50 series rollout

I have to somewhat agree with Ken. Our site has 50 SH and it seems like we're installing a new one every other week. A heads up and explanation of how the new 50 series fits in to the current product line would have been nice.

Riverbed Marketing dept. sucks? 50 series rollout

Come Guys.. You need to talk with your Marketing department on product rollout. Maybe, they can take some night course on marketing at local community college.

First, you don't post a new product to your website before you give your VARs an overview of the product. When I asked my VAR about it on Tuesday he hadn't received a brief and/or product slide deck yet.

Second, You should describe the placement of 50s compared to the 20son your website. Is the 20s better that 50s? Should I stop buying the 2020s and buy a 1050s?

I'm a site with over 80 Riverbeds and 14 HP EFS. I also received the Forward looking Road-map presentation in June, and still no notice of pending product line. I just glad that you didn't replace the 5520 model since I just purchased/installed another one in our Datacenter.

Sorry for Ranting..

Ken
