Re: RIOS and RSP

Thanks Derek.  Being able to SCP the file sounds like it would help.  Almost every one of our Steelheads is running RSP so this is still a fairly manual process.  CMC has been great to automate a lot of the changes and pushing the RIOS upgrade is easy.  I'd love to see it be able to pre-load both and come up straight after a reboot.

Right now we can deploy RIOS to all the SH's and wait for a good window to reboot.  I did that with a less used device yesterday.  Now I'm waiting about 30-40min for the RSP to copy over.   I'll give the SCP thing a try and see how that works.

Thanks!

Re: RIOS and RSP

Trying this again since the formatting got hosed

You should not need to reboot when upgrading RSP, just RiOS.

My suggested procedure for a RiOS/RSP upgrade is:

stop VM(s)
stop RSP
save config
upgrade RiOS
reboot
upgrade RSP
start RSP
start VM(s)
save config

The config save is so RSP doesn't start up on the old/non-compatible version when you reboot.

Want to pre-stage the RSP image?  scp it to /rsp/images/ and install via CLI with "rsp image install <image name>"

Re: RIOS and RSP

I just wanted to add this on... It'd be really great if we could pre-upgrade the RSP like we can RIOS.  We've started using the RSP more and more and it would be nice to shorten the downtime window to a single reboot.  On top of that, if we could do it from a single interface inside the CMC, that would be awesome!
