Re: Copy Datastore from one SH to another

Hi Ray

the machines don't have to be the same model, they "just" need to have the same datastore size, that's it.

You can't just "copy" the datastore, as the references hold a store id and the peer table, which is referred out iof the sport id and every machine has it's own id

PS: but yes, that is a nice request.

Copy Datastore from one SH to another

The feature you mention requires that the SH appliances have the exact same model number and RiOS version. What I just had to do is replace a bunch of first generation SH appliances with new units in all my offices. There was no way to take the datastores from the old units and put them on their replacements... because they were not idential models. Expecting that Automated Data Store Sychronization was "not supported", I figured I would try the procedure anyway. No Go. It would not work with dissimilar models.

Copy Datastore from one SH to another

Hi Ray,

there is a way to copy the datastore to a replacement SH.
You can use "Automated Data Store Synchronization" for that (you'll find it in Configure > Optimization > Data Store).
We've used it successfully.
If you need more details I'm sure that support or your partner will be happy to help you.

Regards,

V.M.

Copy Datastore from one SH to another

When upgrading SH hardware or replacing a SH appliance, it would be nice to be able to take the datastore or segment store from the SH being replaced, and copy it to its replacement. In this way the users in the affected offices get a "warm" SH right away.
