The main disadvantage would be you'd need to purchase a new license. This is probably something you could discuss with your reseller/partner.

I've been running a physical CMC-8000 for 5+ years now managing less than 10 Steelheads. I know a CMC with <10 SH is marginal anyway, but it does help and saves me time. The server is aging, and everything else I have is virtualized. Now days I usually need to have a good reason *not* to virtualize something... Is there any reason to continue running my physical CMC or downside to running CMC-VE, versus virtualizing and realizing all the well-known advantages contained therein?
