Re: Fetch appliance configuration cli command

In CMC 5.x, the fetch would fetch all the settings and recreate a policy file for each of policy groups.  That was fine until we started getting near 250 appliance on the CMC 8000.  It didn't have enough disk space in the /config partition for all those policy files.  We upgraded to the 8150 and then CMC 6.x also changed the fetch so that it only fetches the setting stored in the Appliance Pages section for each appliance.  We have found this to be more usable for a large installation of Steelheads.  Though I do occasions see where it would be nice to have a command to fetch the policy settings.  The most flexible would be to be able to fetch either all policy settings for an appliance (or selected appliances) or just a particular policy group for the appliance(s).

Re: Fetch appliance configuration cli command

Thanks Chris,

Anyway I found that there is no need to fetch If the setting will not be changed by a policy or a section in the appliance pages.

But it will be good to have this command to run it through command line in other cases.

Thanks again

Re: Fetch appliance configuration cli command

RFE 66878 is open for a feature that may help here. I have added your comments to that RFE for consideration.

Re: Fetch appliance configuration cli command

Are there any plans to add the ability to manage the appliance backups?  Such as specifying how many backups to maintains?  I have had to turn off appliance backups on the CMC because I keep running into disk space issues.  Once it creates the backups, the only way to remove old and unwanted backups is to manually go through each device and delete the backup files.  With over 1000 Steelheads, this process takes several days.

Re: Fetch appliance configuration cli command

When the CMC connects to the Steelheads, it will automatically take a backup of the configuration running on there.

Re: Fetch appliance configuration cli command

Hi Chris,

I want to fetch configuration from 120 appliances. I had to change the tacacs password in all of them and then fetch the config.

Cannot do by policy cause it is different in every appliance.

Instead of doing one by one through the GUI want to know if there is a command to do this by cli with a script.

Thanks

What would you like to do specifically?
