The Sensor-VE will not provide application layer 7 detail. As the standalone sensor or express appliance does!

So you can have it monitor the LAN interfaces of the steelhead to provide before and after optimization metrics.

Alternatively, the Sensor-VE can be used to monitor traffic at a remote site using
a mirror port or network tap instead of monitoring the Steelhead LAN interfaces.

All the various flow types alone wont give you timing metrics.

Folks,

I am trying to work out what I get extra adding Sensor VE to my site steelheads and Sensors to my datacentres. Is it just the Application RTT, Server delay and response time and can I get that via Cascade Flow rather than buying more kit?

I currently run Cascade Profiler and Gateway and am getting Cascade flow from all the site and datacentre Steelheads, plus Netflow V9 from the routers and switches at site and data centres.
